Me: Culture in an organization is what you make it to be.

Him: Don’t make clichéd statements.

This discussion took place with a senior executive sitting next to me in a flight. We got talking and he asked me about my background.

When I told him I have worked with multinational organisations as well as in Indian business houses, he questioned how I could adjust between two very different cultures. My response was that for me an organisation's culture is what I make it to be.

On getting his response, I elaborated. Culture of the organisation to me is the way I interact with people around me and with all stakeholders, and how I influence their interaction with me.

Having worked in one of the largest Indian business house as well as in a leading multinational, I have experienced it closely that ultimately, people are the same everywhere, and respect and value you for the same things.
